Cathy Brett has been scribbling since she was old enough to hold a crayon – on paper, often on walls and sometimes on her sister! She has scribbled professionally as a theatrical scenic artist, a fashion designer, a jet-setting spotter of global trends, a cosmetics packaging designer and a retail design consultant to the behemoths of the British high street.

Her debut novel, an illustrated story of reluctant celebrity, teen angst and pyromania, ‘Ember Fury’, is full of scribbling and was published by Headline in 2009. ‘Ember Fury’ has been longlisted for the YOUNG MINDS Book Award 2010. Her second book, ‘Scarlett Dedd’, a darkly comic teen horror is due for released in September 2010.

When not scribbling Cathy makes short animations, lectures in design and watches a lot of telly.
