Ellie was brought up in Scotland, surrounded by a menagerie of animals and eccentricity. She studied architecture and spent several years working as a designer at Harrods. After several years living in Spain she returned to the UK where she has been writing and illustrating picture books for the last 15 years.

Her board book ‘Baby Says’ published by Bloomsbury has been selected for the March 2012 Bookstart pack.

The Glasgow Herald compared Ellie’s wonderful illustrations in ‘No, Baby, No’ written by Grace Nichols and published by Bloomsbury, as reminiscent of Janet Ahlberg’s work.

For ‘Run, Rabbit, Run’ written by Christine Morten and published by Bloomsbury, Ellie won the English Association Award for best illustrated book of 2001.

Ellie has been published in the UK, Europe, Australia, South Korea and America. Everything from poetry collections, early reader stories, picture books. She has also designed and illustrated the Harry Potter Hogwarts crest, now recognisable to millions!
